The results are in....drumroll, please!
A Total of 81 pounds were lost by the 8 participants at Freedom Wealth Alliance. Wow, that's like losing a whole person, poof and gone. Don't worry we are all present and accounted for. We just look a little lighter on our feet, on average 10 pounds lighter.
Team Cris Adams won the team challenge, her team consisted of Kurt Rozman, Shannon Smith, and Bryan Ratkowski. Bryan won second place in the individual challenge as well. The grand prize for the individual win goes to Shawn Thomas. Congratulations to Shawn!
Our team accepted the 2020 challenge valiantly. Considering that it was designed to be light on the meats and heavy on the veggies, we expected a bit of belly aching around the office. However, the junk food got thrown away and the waistlines began to shrink with every plant powered lunch created. Even our avid hunter, Bryan, is still eating primarily plants. He hit his personal goal weight this week - Congratulations to Bryan!
The team at FWA discovered a few tricks to help them adjust to a healthier way of eating. Here are 3 we would like to share with you:
1. For an easy and filling breakfast that you don't have to cook, combine 2 cups of steel cut oats with 3 cups of your favorite non-dairy milk, place in the refrigerator overnight. Your oatmeal is ready to eat the next morning. Scoop out about a 1/2 cup and add your favorite toppings. We like to warm it up, add honey or maple syrup, cinnamon, fresh berries and a few pecans. The flavor combinations are endless.
2. If you find yourself on the go, Chipotle has a fantastic super greens salad and Qdoba is now carrying the Impossible burger crumbles.
3. It's hard not to crave a warm bowl of pasta in this cold weather, try cutting vegetables like yellow squash, zucchini or carrots into matchsticks to mix in with penne pasta in the last 2 minutes of cooking. Then add your favorite sauce or olive oil, some beans for extra fiber, and serve with a big salad or roasted vegetables.
So we are off to yet another new year, with new habits and goals to fuel us until the next challenge presents itself. We wish you much health and happiness and we thank you for being a very special client of ours!
